Organic Welsh Tea Seeds 2026
2026 organic tea seeds - available autumn 2026
We only supply tea seeds from late September through to the end of December. Purchasing freshly harvested UK-sourced seed in autumn and early winter ensures the best viability and germination.
Whether you’re growing a plant for the occasional cup of tea at home, experimenting with a small garden plot, or exploring larger scale production, seed is a really good way to start.
At Peterston Tea, the majority of our plants have been grown from seed. Seed-grown tea plants offer strong root development, good adaptation to local conditions and natural genetic diversity — all qualities that can be particularly valuable in the UK climate.
Our seeds are produced from organically grown Camellia sinensis plants here at Peterston Tea in South Wales.
We include propagation information & an engraved slate plant tag with all orders. We also welcome any questions or queries on how to best grow, plant, establish, prune or harvest and process tea - even if we're talking 1 plant or 10,000!
We have harvested our own seed for the past 5 years and have been really pleased with the plant stock from these.
They are showing very good productivity, good upright spreading growth and are proving to have both good drought and water logging tolerance.
There is quite a variation in the leaf shown by the seedlings but it is all of a smaller hybrid size and these seeds are all from Camellia sinensis var. Sinensis (NOT Assamica)
grown from seed
Originally sourced from all over the world we now harvest and propagate our own Welsh tea seeds. Seeds are a really cost effective way to start growing tea.
